Die niederösterreichischen Kinderfreunde fordern ein gesetzliches Verbot von Frequenzwaffen, die mit Ultraschalltönen Kinder und Jugendliche vertreiben sollen.

Dabei sendet ein Apparat einen schrillen, 80 bis 85 Dezibel lauten Ton auf einer Frequenz um die 16 bis 18 KHz aus, die normalerweise nur von Menschen zwischen zwölf und 25 Jahren zu hören ist. Der Pfeifton wird als extrem lästig empfunden.

Die Geräte können über eine Fernbedienung aktiviert oder mit Überwachungskameras verbunden werden.
